5 INTERESTING ITEMS YOU CAN FIND ON AMAZON – Beauty and Personal Care Edition

Sephora, Ulta, Walgreens and CVS continue to dominate the beauty and health sector but Amazon is not far behind, being a popular preference with online shoppers. According to the article “These are the top beauty brands dominating Amazon” on www.fastcompany.com, Amazon is now the second-most-shopped retailer for beauty products and shows no signs of slowing down. Back in March, Amazon launched an exclusive skincare line and “Indie Beauty Shop”, an online store dedicated to emerging brands. The online retailer has also private labels dedicated to health and personal care categories: Presto, Basic Care, AmazonBasics, Mama Bear and Mountain Falls.

This can be frustrating for competitors but great news for frugal customers, offering shoppers the opportunity of scoring great deals. Check out my tested and approved Amazon’s beauty and personal care items!

2. e.l.f. Studio Makeup Mist & Set 2.02 fl. Oz Clear – $8.34

Not everybody believes in the magic of makeup setting sprays but in case you do, try out the e.l.f Matte Magic Mist & Set. For a $8.34 price point, this setting spray can help your makeup last longer so you can feel and look fresh all day.

I purchased this product 2 weeks ago and I love how prevents creasing and offers a youthful glow to my skin – I often spray it on my face without makeup on too! Remember to keep it light (2 to 3 pumps) if you have oily skin; if you go beyond that, your skin can look greasy. This product takes some time to dry but once it does, you will feel natural and comfortable, ready to start the day.

3. Hyaluronic Acid Serum by Breylee – $11.97

Breylee’s Hyaluronic Acid Serum turned out to be wonderful surprise, exceeding my expectations after 3 months of testing. The product comes with an easy-to-use dropper applicator, which makes it pretty straightforward and easy to apply on the skin. After applying 2-3 drops, the slick residue will dissipate over time and your skin will feel moisturized in 5 minutes or less. It smells great without being overpowering, which I personally love.

The star ingredient, Hyaluronic Acid, works as a potent  moisture-binding ingredient that helps the skin retain moisture and induce collagen remodeling, leading to plump, hydrated skin; in no time, you will start seeing and feeling results. My driest, flakiest skin patches turned into baby-soft angel skin only after one week of using the Hyaluronic Acid Serum. It also reduced inflammation, brighten and strengthen my skin barrier.

This serum is suitable for all skin types but if you have sensitive skin, it is advised to test it on the inside of your arm before applying it on your face and neck. Pay attention to the instructions and make sure you shake the bottle until you see the product is well blended. Apply the serum twice a day to your face and neck and massage the product until absorption.

Breylee has an impressive line of cosmetics, serums, oils, face creams and more! Take a look at this brand’s catalog at https://breylee.com.

4. dōTERRA Lavender Essential Oil  – $30.67

In recent years, these plant-derived extracts have been increasingly popular, claiming to have many benefits; essential oils can be used in different types of diffusers and skin care products, promoting health and wellness. The Food and Drug Administration does not regulate this industry so you need to be extra careful to ensure you’re purchasing from a reputable source. dōTERRA is a respected company in the industry, sourcing their oils from certified growers around the world, ensuring purity and potency in all of their products.

Lavender is arguably the most popular scent of any, and its properties have been widely studied. Lavender’s calming fragrance promotes sleep and fights insomnia; relieves migraines, headaches, depression, nervous tension, and emotional stress; provides resistance to a variety of diseases; has a stimulating effect on urine production; improves the circulation of blood; aids in digestion; helps against eczema; battles respiratory tract infections; boots immunity and digestive health; and is also an effective bug repellent.

As a customer, I am extremely happy with my dōTERRA Lavender Essential Oil. The price point might be steep but the tiny 15 ml bottle will last you several months considering 100 ml diffusers will take 3-5 drops on average. You can also apply the oil directly on the skin to reduce swelling and pain on insect bites, muscle aches, minor burns, cuts, and cold sores.

According to the National Center for Complementary & Integrative Health, oral intake is not safe and this particular essential oil might cause allergic reactions like skin irritation to people who have unusually sensitive skin. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult healthcare practitioner before using lavender essential oil. Caution should also be exercised around children.

5. Anjou Essential Oil Diffuser – $18.99

The 200 ml essential oil diffuser by Anjou turned out to be the perfect diffuser for someone that is starting and experimenting with essential oils, like me! Anjou’s diffuser has 3 settings: mist on with light on, mist on with light off, and mist off. Use it to diffuse your oils by adding 2 to 3 drops to the water or use it as a humidifier. Just set it and forget – it will run up to 8 hours with a full tank and automatically shuts-off when it runs out of water. This is a great size for a smaller room and your work desk. Available in two colors: black and white.
